AC Milan Match Previews

Beckham’s ‘only motive’, Lazio and youth at last

Only motive?

Only motive?

David Beckham’s signing has been finalised, at last, and he is expected to join the club on December 28. I am genuinely excited by this move as I am sure who are aware from my previous post. But this week it came to my attention that when being interviewed this week by Fox Sports, the Englishman said his only motive to join Milan is to make the England squad for the World Cup. Excuse me Beckham! That is not good enough and for a fan of AC Milan, the greatest club ever, such a comment is highly offensive.

Not once in the interview with Fox Sports did Beckham even hint that he is joining Milan because it is like, mmmm, a great club and that he wants to give his all for colours of the shirt. These are the kind of things fans generally want to hear from a player who is about to join their club. For sure it may not always be the truth, many a times have players said such things to get on the good side of the supporters before they arrive. But, whether it is the truth or not, it does no matter for such things are what fans want to hear anyway.

In Beckham’s case, it is clearly well known amongst everyone that the only reason that he is moving to AC Milan is to increase his chances of playing in the World Cup. Nevertheless, as a Milan fan, we want to hear him at least speak of his admiration for our club and his desire to do well in his brief stint. Milan and it’s fans are surely deserved of such treatment for we are a great club. One that deserves a greater respect than what Beckham has shown in his comments with Fox Sports and one that is doing Beckham a huge favour by taking him on again for a brief spell purely in order to help his own English cause.

This is not an unforgivable mistake though. There will be other chances for Beckham to redeem himself in the eyes of the Milanisti by singing the praise of Milan. Let us hope that Becks seizes the opportunity.

For those of you that do not already know, Milan have also announced the signing of the young Ghanian star Dominic Adiyiah. A great signing by Milan and exactly the type of player Milan needs, young and talented. Adiyiah is an attacker and is ideal at playing in the roles currently carried out by Ronaldinho and Pato. Considering that there is no players currently capable of being suitable back ups to our Brazilian duo, the signing of Adiyiah is most welcome. Here is a sneak peak of our new recruit.

The signing of Adiyiah represents a positive move by the Milan board as it seems that they have finally realised that we need youth and badly so. And Adiyiah is not the only signing Milan have made.

Gustavo Leonel Pereira is another star who is reportedly signing for Milan in the coming weeks. Jonathan of Cruzeiro has also been linked to the club. I checked this guy out and thought that I better share this video clip of him with you. There is a little build up but it is well worth the wait. A goal as good as any that you will see by a full back.

Looking ahead…..

Tomorrow night Milan clash with Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico. With our poor form early in the season all but seemingly over and against a Bianocelesti side that are in somewhat of a crisis at the moment, we head into this match expecting a win.

Julio Cruz does return for Lazio but the veteran Argentine really should not pose a great danger to our defence. Zarate on the other hand does and Nesta and co. will have to keep a close eye on him.

With just two points in it between us and second placed Juventus, another win can really help our push for top spot and all but confirm that Milan are a new team from the one that started the campaign.

Forza Milan!
