Another Failed Transfer Campaign Looms as Season Draws Closer

If Milan make no more signings between now and the start of the Serie A season, which kicks off on the 29th August when Milan host Lecce, it will spell the end of yet another failed transfer campaign by the Milan board.

For a number of years now it has been abundantly clear that Milan need new faces and some younger blood. Yet, once again Milan have failed to bring in new arrivals whilst also failing to rid some of the older players in the squad that have become nothing more than deadwood.

Though, there is still time for Milan to bring in a player or two. Milan fans will be praying that the club does so. However, with only twenty days before the start of the Serie A season, time is running out for Milan and the fans will be fearing the worst.

Having not brought in any new players of note, Milan’s preseason form has, rather surprisingly, not been an abject failure. Despite coming last in the Emirates Cup last week, there were some positive signs as some of Milan’s younger players showed some promise as their youthful hunger gave Milan a revitalized feel.

However, these young players cannot be expected to lead Milan to glory this upcoming season. For Milan to have any realistic aims of coveting silverware by the end of the season, at least one star signing has to be made.

Ideally, this one player should be a midfielder, creative or defensive or a bit of both, as it is in midfield that Milan seriously lack depth and quality.

If Milan fail to land a key player before the start of the season, then it will speak volumes of the current ambition of Milan today.

For a club like Milan, one of the world’s most successful and most admired football clubs, winning everything should be the aim every season. Yet, it appears that this is not the case any longer.

With the Serie A fixtures having just been released, for Milan fans it is more a feeling of anxiety as to what the season holds than one of excitement and possibility.

still 20 days to tyhe transfer season closing, so let’s be hopeful…
with the arrival of boateng and the explosion of merkel (i am ready to bet my butts on him) midfield shoul be ok. so we are on the back line.
what we mostly need is a strong reliable stricker. I’d be ready to sacrifice dinho and flamini for him (adebayor?dzeko?benzema?ibra?)

Some of the worst news of the summer hasn’t only been the lack of signings but also the lack of departures from the old guard. Kaladze, Jankulovski, Oddo & Gattuso are still with us, taking up valuable space in the squad which could go to younger players.

On the plus side, Allegri has shown good intentions in the friendlies. I think we will see Merkal & Strasser as valuable midfielders by the end of the season.

It’s a shame Lazio signed Hernanes, he would have been the ideal box to box midfielder we need. Milan seem to want the status of a mid table club at the moment by trying to get Boetang on loan after he signs for Genoa. strange times.

i am very dissapointed milans transfer campaign. taking players from low or mid table teams that they are not even to keen on. yepes papa and amelia. the board has shown total lack of respect to the all the fans worldwide. it seems that they cannot even be concerned with all the noise we fans have been making. one thing shud always be rembered- the heart of a club is the fans and when that stop beating the club will surely die.

I have to agree with Aurelio. Allegri should also be considered a transfer and a good one at that. After all he has won manager of the year for the last 2 years in Serie A.

We can only go on how the team performs and they might yet surprise us when the season starts.

Hmm..I won’t say this exactly is a failure, and not just the mercato decides the season.
Last season Juve spent bug, still failed big.

-We got Papa, which I must rate it an A1 deal.
-Amelia is not that bad,he is highly rated in Italy.
-Yepes is a good deal.YES.We got him on free,he is better than Favalli and will help the youth.
-We are closing in on Boateng,a decent young mid.

I’d dare to say we got the best D in the Serie A.And we got a classy coach,Allegri.
Mark my words,we will do fantastic this season.

    FORZA MILAN

I do not think Ronaldinho will be sold. Berlusconi loves him.

The best outcome is for a quality midfielder to arrive and for Huntelaar or Borriello to have a great season.

So true. How is it that Lazio snare Hernanes whilst we hope for a loan deal for Boateng from Genoa who is not exactly a world class player.

I admire your confidence Pragatish. Though, I have to admit I do not completely agree that with the points who made that we, the fans, should be excited.

Nonetheless, I hope I am wrong and whatever happens we will be gunning for our loved Rossoneri.
