Brazil’s Early Exit Only Good for Milan

Milan’s Brazilian contingent will arrive back in Italy earlier than most expected. Brazil fell early in the Copa America after an un-inspiring performance saw the Selecao eliminated by Paraguay in the first knockout round. Though Thiago Silva, Alexandre Pato and Robinho will return to Milan slightly dejected, their early return is only good news for Max Allegri and Milan.

The trio were expected to start training at the beginning of August, but, now they will start on the 25th of this month. The Brazilians will come back fresher after not having to continue and possibly play another two competitive matches with their national team.

Another positive that has come out of the Copa America for Milan is that their transfer target, Ganso, failed to perform. Though in one aspect this is not reassuring, Ganso’s failure to light up the tournament means that his value will not increase as it would have had he done better. But, the player’s potential and talent remains undoubted so here’s to hoping that he is signed sooner rather than later.

Though Brazil’s performances at the Copa America was not one to remember, Thiago Silva and Robinho will return knowing that they were two of the better players. Pato’s tournament was touch and go but he did bag a nice brace against Ecuador.

Like Brazil’s loss to Paraguay was a shock, Columbia’s loss to Peru was also a surprise. But, like it is with the Brazilians it is good news for Milan too. Mario Yepes will now return fresher and confident after being one of his team’s best performers.
