Max Allegri remains confident ahead of ‘an important month’

Allegri is upbeat

Coach Max Allegri has stated his belief his side will be back amongst the top in the League after a poor start to the season sees them languishing in 13th place.

No reigning Serie A champion since Napoli in 1990-91 has made such a dismal start to their title defence. While injuries have played their part, weaknesses that still remain in the side and that have exposed along with some questionable decisions by Allegri himself is perhaps a better all round explanation as to why we are where we are.

Despite the current state of affairs which is nothing short of a crisis, Allegri is confident of an about turn in the next month. He better be; another month of poor results and his future at the club will hang in the balance.

Speaking to the Milan Channel, Allegri said, “It was a good game in a week when the players who didn’t travel with their national sides stayed here and worked well. We ended things this morning with a good game. We’ll be back working all together on Wednesday and we’ll be preparing ourselves for what’ll be an important month both in Seria A and the Champions League.

“We only have a few points on the table after the opening five games so we have to get back on track bearing in mind the positives and the negatives that we’ll take from the start of the season. We’ll get back in the league after a few players come back into contention which will allow us to play intense football but without being nervous.”

“The club hasn’t lost its appeal because of the losses at Naples and Turin. We definitely thought we would have done better but the league is long and there’ll be time to make the points back.”

Ibra will be back with the right determination to get back winning and to do that we’ll all have to work together and stay calm.”

Next in the Serie A Milan face Palermo before a double header with BATE Borisov in the Champions League, an encounter with a resurgent AS Roma and an epic clash with Barcelona at the San Siro. It is indeed a big month for both Allegri and the club. A good run of results is a necessity, a poor month of results and heads could roll.
