It has to be said, Taye Taiwo’s start to his Milan career has been much like the team’s start to the Serie A season, disappointing to say the least.
The Nigerian has started just one match to date and it was not one that showed much promise. Rather, he was a nervous wreck and it showed in some of his challenges. He looked a little overwhelmed by the occasion. Perhaps a touch intimidated.
Nevertheless, the former Marseille man is confident he will come good.
“I know I have the quality to impress and make it big in AC Milan but I just need to concentrate and continue to work very hard and I will soon impress in Milan,” Taiwo exclusively told MTNFootball.com.
“I know I am young and have time on my side and will still play a lot of games for the club. The players who are playing there now are older than me and I have better advantage over them.
“I am bold to say that when they were younger they did not even play up to my capacity or rather capabilities. So, it is a matter of time and I will still bounce back and seize my opportunity with both arms.
“When I left Lobi Stars to join Olympique Marseille in 2004, I did not settle down until after about three, six months. Since then I caught up and started playing well. The same thing is happening right now at Milan and I am so confident of clearing this hurdle and then I will move on from there.”
Have to say I like the slight arrogant tone in his words. It shows a player who does believe in himself and this is vital to him overcoming his slow start and showing the Rossoneri faithful just what he can do.
Recently, it has been reported that Milan are looking for a left back so Taiwo better start to exhibit his worth before it is too late. Barcelona’s Eric Abidal and Maxwell have been linked to the club.
